Gavin's personal success as a motor racing driver has given him a deep insight and understanding of the skill, expertise and determination that is required to succeed in motor sport at any level. Having studied at Plymouth College F.E., Gavin gained his ONC/HNC in various levels of engineering and went on to become the award-winning designer for Swift Racing Cars from 1996 to 1999.

His outstanding Formula Ford creations won 27 championships worldwide making Swift-Racing Cars the most successful motor racing car manufacturer in the world at that time.

During this time, Gavin was also running West-tec motorsport and fabrications.  West-Tec has won no less than 10 motor racing championships. Highlights include: -

• Slick 50 British Formula Ford - 1^st Division (with a stunning 100 point lead)
• Formula Renault Championship (on first year of entry)
• Duckhams Formula Ford Festival.
• 2005 and 2006 SCSA championship.

In March 2001, West-Tec motorsport relocated from Plymouth to Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, Northants, with the intention of expanding their single seater operation, but by August 2001 Team West-Tec has changed direction and moved into the vibrant new world of US Stock Car Motor Racing in Europe.  Team West-Tec is a major player in the most exhilarating, refreshing and unfamiliar territory that is - Days of Thunder motor racing.

Rockingham Motor Speedway is a £50 million purpose built 1.5 mile banked oval motor racing track.  Specifically designed and engineered to bring the hugely popular US style oval motor racing to the UK.
